For the past 7 months I have been using Manga Studio 5, I highly recommend this program in combination with Frenden Brushes. When I bought it I had every intention on buying the MS 5 EX, but at the time I did NOT feel like dropping $300 on it at first, so I decided to buy the standard Manga Studio 5 (This has no story feature which let's you organize you manga pages into a specific folder, a feature I used a lot with Manga Studio 4). Then I would upgrade to EX for $100. SO I decide to do this exact thing and when I went to upgrade 7 months and 30 plus comics later. Smith Micro no longer sells the digital download of Manga, it's a new program (I know it's re branded, let me finish), Clip studio Paint?????
SO, as every person that took an extended power nap at 1pm then wakes up at 6pm wondering what the hell the day is, I was confused... I have always been skeptical of companies that re brand their product, but Clip Studio isn't even Smith Micro's product, it's completely different company, and Clip Studio looks and handles exactly like Manga Studio 5... It's that same program, thank ASS there's no learning curve but that's not what irritates me about it, being the same F#%$ing program, no, what pisses me off is...I have to re set ALL of my presets! My custom format for The Bluenecks and my other comic project, and the color palettes I set up for my characters, I have to put that shit in AGAIN! The templates I made for the strips, gotta remake those.
Oh, once you install Clip Studio, the Manga Studio executable launches Clip Studio.
The Programs are the exact SAME
My presets, Templates, and Palettes need to be RE ENTERED
No learning curve if you're a MS5 veterin
My advice, see if amazon has the digital version of EX, or make sure to export your presets and templates BEFORE installing Clip Studio Paint
There is nothing new, it is the EXACT SAME. (Never type angry kids)
